Actress Andrea Brillantes has revealed in a heartfelt Instagram post that she had to hide her enthusiasm for K-pop and K-drama for many years due to online backlash.

Now, at 21, she has found the courage to express her fandom once again, recently attending a fan meeting for Korean actor Kim Soo-Hyun in the Philippines.
In her post, Andrea shared, “A few years ago, I decided to stop being super vocal about my interest in the kdrama/kpop industry. I experienced extreme backlash when I was a kid for simply sharing my fangirl moments from groups and series that I loved, and I received a lot of hate.”
The young actress recounted the impact of the negative comments she received when she was just 14, which led her to become a more reserved fan. “Since then, I’ve tried not to post and just remain a quiet fan from afar, pero minsan napapapost padin haha. It’s been 7 years since that traumatic experience, so I feel like I have more courage to share my fangirl moments now that I’m already 21 and not 14 anymore hehe.”

Despite potential criticism, Andrea’s excitement about meeting her favorite actor was palpable. “I know people will still have a lot to say, but I’m just too happy to finally have seen Kim Soo-Hyun because I’ve been following him since I was 13, and he’s literally my number one big Korean crush ever since,” she added.
Andrea Brillantes is a Filipina actress who rose to fame as a child star. Her popularity was further propelled when she played the role of Marga in the hit teleserye “Kadenang Ginto.” Along with her “Kadenang Ginto” co-stars Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin, Andrea was a member of The Gold Squad. Andrea was in a romantic relationship with basketball player Ricci Rivero until their breakup around June 2023.
