Xbox Gamers Can Claim a Console Exclusive Game for Free Right Now, And You Don’t Even Need Game Pass

Summary

  • Xbox gamers can claim Tell Me Why for free until July.
  • Tell Me Why is a narrative-driven, episodic adventure game similar to the Life is Strange titles.
  • It’s become an annual Pride Month tradition to give away Tell Me Why for free.

For a limited time, Dontnod Entertainment’s episodic, narrative-driven adventure game Tell Me Why is completely free to claim on Xbox. Generally speaking, consoles aren’t treated to free games at nearly the same rate as PCs. The Epic Games Store, Steam, GOG, and other digital storefronts regularly give PC gamers the chance to get free claims with no subscription necessary. However, the past month has seen Xbox gamers given the chance to claim two free games for their digital libraries.

Metro 2033 was free on Xbox for a very brief time to help celebrate the game’s 15th anniversary. Metro 2033 was originally meant to be free on Xbox back in April, but there was some kind of technical issue that prevented the giveaway from happening. The Metro 2033 free giveaway was rescheduled to the end of May and has since concluded, so those that didn’t claim it in time missed out. On the bright side, there’s a different free game for Xbox gamers to claim right now, and they have a bit longer to snag it.

Tell Me Why is Free on Xbox From Now Until July

It’s not just Xbox gamers that can claim Tell Me Why for free. Tell Me Why is an Xbox console exclusive, meaning it’s not available on competing consoles like PlayStation or Nintendo, but the game is readily available on PC. In fact, Tell Me Why is free on Steam for the same duration that it’s free on Xbox, so PC gamers can also get the game at no additional charge.

It’s entirely possible that PC and Xbox gamers already have Tell Me Why in their digital libraries. For years now, Tell Me Why has been given away for free in June to celebrate Pride Month. For those unfamiliar with the game’s story, Tell Me Why features a transgender person as one of its two main playable characters. This inclusivity helped the game win multiple awards despite receiving somewhat mixed reviews. Regardless, PC and Xbox gamers have until July to get the game for free, whether that’s on PC or Xbox.
