Fall may be right around the corner, but before it happens, you might want to get in on the great gardening workshops that are happening over the next couple of weeks here in Minnesota. Some events are free, but registration is required for all.

The U of MN Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Stearns County will be presenting a great workshop on Monday, September 16th from 6 to 8:30 pm.

SESSION 1: GROWING GARLIC IN MINNESOTA

Learn how to grow some of the best-tasting garlic in the world. Master Gardener Jeff Mehr, will talk about the different types of garlic including:

  • How and when to plant
  • How to protect garlic over winter
  • What to do in the spring and growing season, harvest, curing, and different ways of using garlic.
  • During this presentation, you will also receive 2 recipes using garlic.

SESSION 2: LATE BLOOMING PERENNIALS

Want to help support pollinators? Learn different plants that will extending the growing season in your gardens from Master Gardener Joan Andersen. The Workshop is free to attend, but pre-registration is necessary. Registration is limited.

THE JOY OF GARDENING SEPTEMBER 21ST

The Joy of Gardening put on by the Sherburne County Master Gardeners, is a garden expo taking place on Saturday, September 21st from 9 am until 2:30 pm.

Date: Saturday September 21, 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Location: Oliver Kelly Farm in Elk River, MN
Deadline to register: September 17 at 5:00 p.m.

Come enjoy a day of garden education with the Sherburne County Master Gardeners including a keynote by Julie Schroer and Jodie Ramsay: “Gardening in a Changing Climate.”
