Village official critically wounded in gun attack

A VILLAGE official was critically wounded in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police said Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the victim as Jake Niko Alaban Fabian, 31, a councilor in Tumaga village, Zamboanga city.

The ZCPO said Fabian was shot around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 18, near the Gutierrez Compound in Tumaga village.

Investigation showed that Fabian was driving home to Gutierrez Compound coming from a feast in Dulian-Upper Pasonanca village when repeatedly shot by the suspect.

The police recovered at the crime scene five empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Police Colonel Fidel Fortaleza Jr., ZCPO director, said they already have a person of interest as the investigation over the incident continues.

Fabian had undergone surgery and was placed at the hospital’s intensive care unit. (SunStar Zamboanga)
