1. Justice for Dogs Who Were Severely Neglected and Living in Filth
When authorities in Valley, Nebraska finally saw the dogs they had come to check on, they realized why their human wouldn’t let them inside at first. Seven dogs were found living in utter, cruel neglect.
The poor pups were surrounded by filth and feces were scattered throughout the house. The only presence of dog food in the home was haphazardly thrown around on the floor where urine and feces also rotted, providing no real nourishment or comfort for the animals. The absence of kennels meant the dogs had no safe space to rest, and they were left to roam freely, adding to the unsanitary and unsafe conditions.
Please sign this petition to demand a lifetime ban on living with animals for the individual responsible for this cruelty!
2. Urge Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont to Ban the Use of Exotic Animals in Circuses
Circuses are undeniably cruel and vicious towards wild animals. After all, cruelty is genuinely the only way to get lions, elephants, and other exotic animals to perform entirely unnatural tricks. They would never do these things in the wild but learn to do them for humans to avoid further pain and suffering.
Luckily, more and more U.S. states are passing laws to ban this awful exploitation – with Massachusetts being the latest to join the trend!
Common forms of torture that handlers use to force animals to perform for humans include whips, electric shocks through prods, and bullhooks to dig into and under animals’ skin. The goal is to crush animals’ spirits enough that they won’t fight back or disobey – that they will become pliant and obedient due to pain. On top of that, animals are shoved into tiny cages where they are locked up for hours as the shows travel from location to location.
Please sign this petition to urge Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont to ban the use of exotic animals in circuses and other traveling shows!
3. Help Hold the Air Force Accountable for Refusing to Clean Up Its Water Pollution
It’s undeniable: the U.S. Air Force has been poisoning the drinking water supply in Tucson, Arizona, a city home to more than half a million people. And now it’s refusing to clean up its Pollution. Specifically, it’s claiming that the Supreme Court’s recent decisions limiting government agencies’ regulatory abilities mean the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has no right to hold the military accountable.
Naturally, this is unacceptable. The people of Tucson deserve to be protected from these dangers and deserve to have safe, clean drinking water. That’s why the EPA stepped in and demanded the Air Force clean up its toxic mess. As the EPA wrote: “The Air Force bears responsibility for the PFAS contamination and needs to step forward to protect the Tucson community.” But if the Air Force continues to refuse… what then?
Please sign this petition to demand the U.S. Congress pass a law strengthening and concretizing the EPA’s authority!
4. Help Hold Animal Sanctuary Accountable for Abuse and Neglect
At an animal rescue and sanctuary in Maine, a disturbing scene of neglect has come to light. The sanctuary’s owner is under investigation for animal cruelty after authorities discovered 27 dogs living in horrible conditions and the remains of six dogs discarded in trash bags.
Animal rescuers hold the lives of vulnerable creatures in their hands, and this person betrayed the innocent animals in her care. While this person will likely be charged with animal abuse, this tragic situation underscores a severe need for mental health Support for a person who was able to treat animals like this. This situation cannot go unanswered.
Please sign this petition to demand that Bucksport authorities ban this person from ever being responsible for animals ever again!
5. Urge Shipping Company to Reroute Ships to Avoid Whale-Ship Collisions
The Hellenic Trench in the Mediterranean is a key ecosystem for endangered sperm whales. Fewer than 200 of the majestic creatures are left alive in the area – and more die off all the time, often as a result of being hit by large ships.
That’s why it’s so important for big shipping companies to agree to change their routes to avoid this precious area and save endangered whales. And, incredibly, some companies are agreeing to do just that! Recently, a large international company called Arcadia ShipManagement put whale Conservation first by altering its routes to avoid the Hellenic Trench area entirely!
It is incredible to see a company show such commitment to ethics and morals by protecting endangered sperm whales. Now we must call on more organizations to follow suit!
Please sign this petition to urge Aegean Shipping to also reroute ships to avoid the Hellenic Trench!
6. Demand an Investigation into the Avoidable Killing of a Polar Bear in Canada
In a tragic incident at a remote radar site in Canada’s Arctic region, a worker was fatally attacked by two polar bears, leading to the killing of one of the bears. This event, while devastating, raises significant concerns about the measures in place to protect both employees and the endangered polar bears that inhabit these regions.
The decision to kill one of the bears instead of using non-lethal means suggests a grievous lack of preparedness and regard for wildlife Conservation, especially for a species that is globally recognized as threatened due to habitat loss from Climate change. The polar bear’s death highlights a severe oversight in handling wildlife interactions humanely and effectively.
Please sign this petition to urge authorities to investigate this incident and implement stronger protective measures for humans and wildlife!
7. Demand Accountability for the Climate Deniers in Congress
Twenty-three percent of lawmakers in the U.S. Congress don’t believe in the existence of human-caused Climate change. This is in one of the most influential, wealthy, carbon-polluting countries in the world – meaning they have a huge platform to cause a lot of damage and prevent a lot of progress. Oh, and all of these members of Congress belong to the Republican party.
Please sign this petition to pledge that you will vote Blue for Democrats this November to keep the Earth Green!
8. Help Ban the Sale of Endangered Bats on Etsy, eBay, and Amazon
In the shadow of illegal wildlife markets, a lesser-known but disturbing trade flourishes. The online sales of bat taxidermy – including the endangered Kerivoula picta – are marketed as decorative items on platforms like Etsy, eBay, and Amazon. This trade not only violates international Conservation laws but also fuels the decline of species crucial to our ecosystems.
Kerivoula picta bats, also known as painted woolly or fire bats, are brightly colored and strikingly patterned. Conservationists cite online demand for these bats as one of the primary threats driving their decline in their natural habitats across Asia. To make matters worse, sellers often mislead consumers with claims of sustainable sourcing.
Despite clear violations under the Lacey Act, which prohibits trade in illegally sourced wildlife, these sales continue, facilitated by major online marketplaces. The situation has escalated to a point where urgent action is necessary to prevent these beautiful creatures from being reduced to mere trinkets.
Please sign this petition to urge Etsy, eBay, and Amazon to do better at stopping the illegal sale of endangered bats online!
