The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC Gets DLSS 4 Upgrade – But Gamers Aren’t Happy
A monstrous patch has been released by Naughty Dog for The Last Of Us Part II Remastered on PC alongside the highly anticipated DLSS 4 launch with Multi Frame Generation support from NVIDIA. More smooth gameplay, increased performance, and all those visual enhancements that come from RTX. Now it all sounds like one heck of a winning upgrade. So what are the masses of gamers saying it?
So the gist of what DLSS 4 does: It is the latest GPU AI-enabled upscaling technology to sort of increase frame-rate while maintaining image quality. Considering that The Last of Us Part II is one of the heavy hitters in visuals, this should be able to make a real difference. Players will now be able to crank up their settings and still get smooth-as-butter-kind-of-performance if their rigs allow it.
But here is the thing: Gamers are not trading confetti around. Responses to NVIDIA’s tweet are varied with agony, sarcasm, and, at instances, pure disgust. @AlexL0519 really dropped: “Get your drivers to work… you are now AMD in terms of shit drivers.” Ouch. @player15851237 drops another: “You mfers will do anything but optimize your sht.”
There are a few of such driver-related complaints. Some players think and feel otherwise about the game itself. @FS_Vae_Victis describes the game as a “woke ass game with terrible writing,” while @hd_olivares remains bitter about the death of Pedro Pascal in the story: “I still hate Ellie for not being able to save Pedro Pascal.” (Totally relatable.)
There are those discussing the price point. @treyjustice says: “I need this game to go on sale.” These are quite appropriate arguments, considering how costly the remastered version is. Not that we have to remind you about the crowd that is still making noise for a “re-written edition,” @AdamBjork frankly included.
Then there is the side of minority that is out-and-out appreciating the update. @A_Black_Samurai was one of those. Meanwhile, the genuine jewel of a question was posed by @jfs0903: “Would it be available in @NVIDIAGFN?” No official word has been pronounced just yet, but tell me you are not keeping your fingers crossed.
What is the big deal? The Last Of Us Part II Remastered might just be that heavy with technical stuff, but Naughty Dog is already slogging through a PR minefield. Given the driver’s fiasco, complain about the pricing, and nagging story issues, maybe the update was never the slam dunk it hoped to be. But for those few blessed with the hardware, DLSS 4 could make for a stunning playthrough. No parading for this one.
In case you missed it: The game does not support raytracing by the way. Thanks, @roberteng98. 🙃
