Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Mechanical Cat

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lets players build all sorts of things using in-game items, and one fan has used this system to create an incredible mechanized cat in the game. Players often share incredible creations made in Tears of the Kingdom, but a machine that looks like a cat is not something seen every day.

Tears of the Kingdom has been a major critical and financial success for Nintendo, garnering many positive reviews and millions of sales. As of February 2024, the game has sold over 20.28 million units. While this still puts it behind its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom is now one of the top 10 best-selling Switch games of all time, an impressive accomplishment considering the overwhelming success of the hybrid console. With so many gamers playing Tears of the Kingdom since its release, some have gone beyond finishing the main story and quests and have taken the game’s building mechanics to the next level.

While Tears of the Kingdom does not have cats, one player looked to change that with their own creation. Reddit user kmarkow recently shared a video of their mechanical kitten on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit. This incredible build composed of various items and Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom featured a surprising resemblance to a real cat. Some of the standout details included Gleeok wings as ears, a hearty radish as the nose, and an iron pole for the tail. Not only did the creation look like a cat, but it could also move. The Reddit user even added dance music to the clip, making it look like the kitten was dancing.

In addition to showing the robot cat in action, kmarkow provided a list of some of the parts in the build for other interested Tears of the Kingdom builders to check out on Reddit. While they currently do not have a building tutorial, they said it was something they might do in the future. So far, the reception on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit has been positive, with the post receiving more than 1.4K upvotes and many favorable comments. Besides many cat-related puns, some gamers noted how the design reminded them of a popular robotic cat toy from around 2000s.

This mechanical cat is one of the latest animal-themed creations made in the open-world Zelda game. Over the last few months, kmarkow has created other animal-themed builds in Tears of the Kingdom, including ones based on a mosquito and a butterfly. With seemingly no end to the creative building ideas in the game, time will tell what players like kmarkow make next.
