T.G.I.S. star Red Sternberg dies at 50

Pumanaw na ang dating T.G.I.S. star na si Red Sternberg noong Martes, May 27, 2025.

Siya ay 50.

Inanunsiyo ng TV and movie director na si Mark Reyes ang malungkot na balita sa pamamagitan ng Facebook post ngayong Biyernes, May 30 — ang ika-51 kaarawan sana ni Red.

Mensahe ni Direk Mark: “The entire T.G.I.S Barkada is heart broken to lose one of our own.

“We just confirmed with Red’s wife Sandy Sternberg of his passing a few days ago.

“Their family requests privacy at this time and your kind understanding as they navigate this sudden passing of Red.

“Kiko we love you and we’re giving you a group hug right now.”

Kalakip ng mensahe ni Direk Mark ang Facebook post ng misis ni Red na si Sandy kaugnay ng pagkamatay ng dating aktor.

Ayon kay Sandy, biglaan ang pagkamatay ni Red, ngunit hindi niya binanggit kung ano ang sanhi nito.

Naulila ni Red ang kanyang misis at ang kanilang tatlong anak.

Saad ni Sandy: “It is hard to find the words right now to say that this has been the most difficult time I have ever gone through my whole life.

“To be greeted ‘happy birthday’ and ‘sorry for your loss’ at the same time three consecutive days of what was supposed to be a celebration full of birthdays. May was our month! 5th, 28th, 29th and 30th.

“My husband suddenly passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 27th.

“To those who knew him from his early acting days, he was ‘Kiko,’ but to our three kids and I he was simply Daddy/Dada. Today would have been his 51st birthday.

“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I would kindly request our need for privacy at this time as we navigate this difficult journey.

“Memorial arrangements will be shared soon.

RED STERNBERG’S SHOWBIZ CAREER

Si Red Sternberg ay bahagi ng cast ng weekly youth-oriented series na T.G.I.S., na umere sa GMA-7 mula mula 1995 hanggang 1999.

Ginampanan niya rito ang role na Kiko, ang pinakamakulit sa magbabarkada.

Kasama ni Red sa cast sina Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, Onemig Bondoc, Rica Peralejo, Michael Flores, Ciara Sotto, Bernadette Allyson, at Raven Villanueva.

Naging contract star si Red ng Viva Films, kung saan nakagawa siya ng ilang pelikula.

Kabilang dito ang Takot Ka Ba Sa Dilim? (1996), Where ‘D Girls ‘R (1996), T.G.I.S. The Movie (1997), Laging Naroon Ka (1997), Silaw (1998), It’s Cool Bulol (1998), Sumigaw Ka Hanggang Gusto Mo (1999), at My Pledge of Love (1999).

Bukod sa T.G.I.S., ang iba pang TV shows na ginawa niya sa GMA-7 ay ang Anna Karenina at Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga.

Hindi nagtagal ang showbiz career ni Red dahil nagdesisyon siyang manirahan sa Amerika, kung saan siya nagtrabaho at bumuo ng kanyang sariling pamilya.
