Authorities have arrested the primary suspect in the killing of 65-year-old Veneranda Cabutotan, whose body was found inside a black garbage bag dumped in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City on May 14.

According to Police LtCol. Rolando Baula, station commander of Payatas Bagong Silangan Police, they received a tip from a concerned citizen who had spoken with the victim on the day of the incident.

The informant said the victim had mentioned, “hihingi daw siya ng sigarilyo sa suspek.”

CCTV footage showed the victim entering the suspect’s compound around 2:00 AM but never coming out.

Over three hours later, the same camera captured the suspect pushing a cart carrying a black garbage bag, which was believed to contain the victim’s remains.

“During the course of our investigation, na-identify natin yung identity niya. So pinuntahan natin yung bahay… nakita namin yung pouch bag ng biktima natin… it was confirmed naman nung kamag-anak na biktima talaga may-ari no’n,” said PLtCol. Baula.

During the search of the suspect’s residence, police recovered drug paraphernalia and the pushcart seen in the CCTV footage.

Authorities noted that it had been repainted in an apparent attempt to evade recognition.

Initial investigation revealed the suspect had been drinking when he asked the victim for a massage.

“Allegedly, nagalit yung suspek dahil hindi maganda yung pagmamasahe ng ating biktima… nasakal niya yung babae hanggang bawian ng buhay,” Baula added.

It was also confirmed that the suspect had availed of the victim’s massage services multiple times in the past.

Earlier reports by Radyo Todo Aklan, which was later confirmed by other media sources say Julian, Senator Jinggoy’s son, was allegedly physically assaulted by three young men in Boracay Island during the early hours of Saturday, May 24. The reports further state that the alleged incident unfolded around 2:00 AM as Ejercito and his nephew were walking near a mini-mall after leaving a bar. Senator Jinggoy has confirmed the alleged assault.
