Steam Shatters Its All-time Concurrent Player Record With A Whopping 38.3 Million Gamers Online < NAG

Hold onto your WASD keys because Steam has just levelled up big time! We all know Valve’s beloved platform is the final boss of PC gaming, but this past Sunday, it went full-on ultra juggernaut mode, smashing its all-time concurrent player record in glorious fashion!

And I do mean glorious. Think of it like Steam went and Thanos snapped its August 2023 record out of existence. According to SteamDB, Steam’s new high score when it comes to concurrent players is a jaw-dropping, eye-watering, game-crashing 38.3 million concurrent players.

To further break it down, Steam hit 33 million players in January 2023, bumped it up to 36 million in March, and flexed to 37 million in August. But now? 38.3 Million.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering what all 38 million players were playing. Well, as no surprise, Counter-Strike 2 headshotted the competition with nearly 1.5 million players fragging away. Right behind it, PUBG and Dota 2 were duking it out for second place, each rocking about 800k players. And in the mix? Casual titles like Grand Theft Auto V and the massively hyped Baldur’s Gate 3 were holding their own.

Even God of War Ragnarök hit a peak of 35,615 players, which isn’t bad for a game that launched with “Mixed” reviews thanks to some PlayStation Network account shenanigans.

If Steam continues to grow as it has, then it’s likely that concurrent players will soar to 40 million before the year ends and as more blockbuster games drop. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that when it comes to peak concurrent players, Steam’s only going up—no respawn needed!
