SSS Launches Nationwide Operation Against Contribution Evaders to Celebrate Labor Day
The Social Security System (SSS) is set to advocate for the protection of social security for Filipino workers nationwide in commemoration of Labor Day. SSS Executive Vice President for Branch Operations Sector Voltaire P. Agas announced the issuance of violation notices to delinquent employers across the country as part of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation to remind them of the legal consequences of failing to remit their employees’ contributions.
Agas emphasized the importance of ensuring that all Filipino workers have access to social security benefits in times of emergencies. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet prioritizes the welfare of Filipino workers by ensuring that employers are up-to-date in sending premium contributions collected from employees.
The campaign, titled “Alay ng SSS para sa mga Manggagawa – Serbisyong Mapagkakatiwalaan at Proteksyong Maaasahan,” will take place nationwide on April 30. Agas highlighted the various social security benefits that SSS members are entitled to, such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, funeral, and death benefits.
Furthermore, the SSS is implementing new programs to reach out to individuals in the informal economy, especially in rural areas and indigenous communities, encouraging them to enroll in the system for broader social security coverage. Agas also discussed additional retirement savings schemes, including the Workers’ Investment and Savings Program (WISP) and the Voluntary Provident Fund Program, aimed at helping members save more for their retirement.
These initiatives aim to enhance members’ savings for retirement beyond what they receive under the regular social security program. By promoting compliance with contribution remittance and offering voluntary savings programs, the SSS is working towards improving the financial security of Filipino workers and their families.
