The incident, captured by local CCTV cameras, highlights both the risks faced by commuters and the sometimes unforeseen outcomes of criminal endeavors.

The sequence of events, widely reported, began when the two individuals, riding in tandem, targeted a pedestrian carrying a bag.

After successfully grabbing the bag from the victim, their getaway was abruptly interrupted when their motorcycle collided with a passing tricycle.

The force of the impact caused the suspects’ motorcycle to fall, dislodging both the riders and the snatched bag from their grasp.

In the immediate aftermath of the collision, as the two suspects scrambled to right their fallen motorcycle and regain control, a third motorcycle rider approached the scene.

Witnesses later recounted that the approaching civilian, whose identity was not disclosed, was mistakenly perceived by the snatchers to be an undercover police officer.

This misidentification triggered a swift and panicked reaction from the culprits. Instead of attempting to retrieve the bag or remount their motorcycle, both suspects abruptly abandoned their vehicle and fled the scene on foot, leaving behind both the dropped bag and their motorcycle.

The bag, containing the victim’s belongings, was recovered at the site. Investigations quickly revealed an additional layer of irony: the motorcycle left behind by the fleeing suspects was found to be a stolen vehicle.

Authorities were subsequently able to return the recovered motorcycle to its rightful owner, adding an unexpected turn to the botched crime.

This incident underscores the persistent challenge posed by “riding-in-tandem” criminals in urban areas, a modus operandi frequently employed for snatching and other street crimes due to its speed and ease of escape.

Law enforcement agencies continuously warn the public about such threats and implement various strategies, including increased police visibility and community vigilance, to deter these types of offenses.

However, this particular case serves as an unusual example where the criminals’ own misjudgment and a stroke of bad luck contributed to their undoing, preventing the successful completion of their illicit act.

The public reaction to the incident has often highlighted the unusual circumstances of the criminals’ immediate retreat, emphasizing the quick thinking of the civilian who unwittingly caused their flight.

Authorities continue to investigate the identity of the two suspects who managed to evade capture on foot.

News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable.
