Shadow Labyrinth Trailer Reveals PAC-MAN-Inspired Maze Gameplay

Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared a new trailer for Shadow Labyrinth, revealing more about how PAC-MAN-inspired gameplay will be “creatively woven” into the game.

Pitched as “a visionary-inspired new game set in a sci-fi universe that draws from the company’s legendary arcade franchise,” Bandai Namco Studios is behind the project which, at its core, will present “a thrilling and visceral new take” on PAC-MAN.

It ties in with Secret Level, Prime Video’s adult-animated anthology series, and will present a setting for the 2D action-platformer in which you must consume to survive on a hostile alien world.

This is a broad departure from any previous PAC-MAN game, where, playing as a protagonist called Swordsman No. 8, you awaken on an alien planet still ravaged by war and monsters. You soon encounter PUCK, a mysterious yet recognisable figure who teaches them that their goal in this treacherous world is to escape it. To achieve that, they must consume everything that waits in the darkness to survive and ultimately become the planet’s apex predator.

You will traverse a maze-filled world where enemies and puzzles will challenge you at every step, and your success will come from mastering the game’s fluid combat and exploration to unlock increasingly powerful abilities and toppling monstrous bosses to learn why PUCK chose you for this task.

Shadow Labyrinth will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 18 July 2025.
