Senator Robin Padilla confirmed on Monday, June 9, 2025, that several allies of the Duterte family in the Senate are preparing separate resolutions to dismiss the pending impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an ambush interview, Padilla emphasized that despite working independently, they all remain solidly behind the Duterte camp.

“Hindi kami nag-uusap-usap. May kaniya-kaniya kaming isip, may kaniya-kaniya kaming gawa, may kaniya-kaniya kaming staff,” he stated.

He proudly affirmed their shared loyalty, saying, “Kami, Duterte kami. ‘Di ba malinaw naman siguro ‘yon? Kahit sunugin mo ‘ko dito, mangangamoy Rodrigo Roa Duterte ako.”

However, he clarified that while united in support, each senator is crafting their own version of the resolution.

“Pero yung draft ko, walang kinalaman sa draft ni ganito o sa draft ni ganon. Akin yun sa sarili ko,” he added.

The existence of multiple draft resolutions came to light after Senator Imee Marcos disclosed that several resolutions had been circulating in the Senate aiming to block the impeachment process, which is expected to move forward on June 11.

Senator Bato dela Rosa also admitted that one of the drafts being passed around originated from his office, reflecting his personal sentiments on the matter.

As of now, the Senate remains abuzz with speculation over which resolution—if any—will gain enough traction to impact the fate of VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment case.

Previously, he expressed concern over PDP-Laban’s campaign struggles.

Padilla said that this is being caused by the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, their main crowd-drawer.

The actor-turned-politician emphasized how Duterte’s presence used to attract supporters without the need for financial incentives, but now the party feels lost without him.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He left Malacañang on June 30, 2022. The newly inaugurated President of the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos who got 31 million votes in the May 2022 elections. The new Vice President of the Philippines is VP Sara Duterte, the daughter of the former president.
