San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora expressed his honest thoughts on the viral incident involving Lexter Castro, also known as Boy Dila, during the recent Wattah Wattah Festival.

In a ’24 Oras’ report by Jun Veneracion on Monday, July 1, Zamora said he is displeased that Castro has become the “new face” of the festival.

“Siya ngayon ang nagiging mukha ng Wattah Wattah Festival at nakakalungkot at nakakagalit,” the local chief expressed.

The mayor also shared that he wanted to personally talk to the viral “basaan” participant.

“Papatawag ko siya at kakausapin ko siya personally. Sisiguruhin ko na matuto ng leksyon, yung masakit na leksyon na maalala niya habambuhay niya para hindi na niya ulitin ulit,” Zamora angrily said.

The “basaan” tradition during Wattah Wattah Festival is part of the celebration of the city’s patron saint, Saint John the Baptist. It is being held every 24th of June.

Earlier, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora apologized following the chaos during the Wattah Wattah Festival last June 24. In a press conference, Zamora stated that appropriate charges will be filed against the unruly participants of the traditional “basaan.” While the authorities investigate the viral videos and photos from the feast, Zamora also encouraged the victims to personally file a case against those who behaved unruly during the festival.

Lexter Castro, also known as Boy Dila, has released a public apology. On his Facebook page on Tuesday, Lexter posted a video addressing the viral incident during the recent Wattah Wattah Festival. According to Lexter, he is stressed by the bashings and threats he has been receiving. He also apologized to the rider he doused with water during the traditional “basaan.”
