Samsung announces One UI 7 developer beta, offers sneak peek at SDC

At the Samsung Developers Conference 2024 in San Jose, the Korean giant announced that a beta version of One UI 7.0, the next major OS update for Galaxy devices, will be available for developers before the end of the year. One UI 7.0 will be based on Android 15.

The company also offered audiences a sneak peek at what One UI 7 is all about. Samsung says One UI 7.0 brings a new user experience focused on simple and “emotive design.”

The three core design elements for One UI 7 are:

  • Simple: Aiming for purposeful simplicity across the UI.
  • Impactful: Creating a new signature impression for One UI.
  • Emotive: Creating UI elements, like a new blur engine, that creates a positive emotional response from users.

One UI 7 is essentially going to be one of the biggest refreshes for One UI on smartphones and tablets in years. So big, in fact, that the new software won’t be ready for release in 2024. It will instead debut alongside the Galaxy S25 series next year.

Samsung hasn’t said anything about a One UI 7 beta for users, but we can expect the company to release it in the coming weeks alongside the developer version.
