Rihanna releasing 1st song in 3 yrs for new ‘Smurfs’ movie

 — Pop star Rihanna is releasing a new track for her upcoming movie “Smurfs,” marking just her second new song in nine years.

“Smurfs,” where Rihanna will voice Smurfette, will feature the singer-actress’ “Friend of Mine.”

Her last release was the Oscar-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from the 2022 Marvel movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Before that was her 2017 collaboration with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller “Wild Thoughts,” and her last solo release was for “Love on the Brain” from her most recent album “Anti” the year before.

The upcoming “Smurfs” movie is a reboot of the comic book series of the same name about small, blue humanoid creatures. There were three major Hollywood productions of “The Smurfs” from 2010 to 2017.

Co-starring with Rihanna in the upcoming film are James Corden, Nick Offerman, Sandra Oh, Nick Kroll, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, John Goodman as Papa Smurf, and J. P. Karliak as Gargamel.

Last week at the 2025 Met Gala, Rihanna revealed she was expecting her third child with partner A$AP Rocky.

“Friend of Mine” drops globally on May 16 while “Smurfs” will premiere in Philippine cinemas this July.
