Presidential brother says FPRRD doubts PBBM’s reconciliation
Former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD) said he does not trust President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s offer of reconciliation.
This was relayed by FPRRD’s youngest brother, Benjamin “Bong” Duterte, to the former’s supporters waiting outside the detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.
“Parang nagkuan siya ‘No way,’ he doesn’t believe it,” he said on May 21, 2025.
Earlier, Marcos said in the first episode of his podcast hosted by Anthony Taberna that he is open to reconciliation with the Duterte family. He added that what he needs are friends, not enemies, as he wants to deliver on his agenda in the remaining years of his term.
“Hanggat maari ako ang habol ko ay yung stability, peaceful, para magawa namin ang trabaho namin. Kaya ako lagi akong bukas (As much as possible, what I’m after is stability and peace so that we can do our jobs well. That’s why I’m always available),” he said on his podcast posted in his Facebook page on May 19, 2025.
This came a week after some allies of Vice President Sara Duterte won in the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).
Benjamin also informed FPRRD of Sara’s intent to push through with the impeachment proceedings, saying she wants a “bloodbath.”
Benjamin proceeded by saying that FPRRD warned that Sara should be watched more closely as she is unstoppable. This idea was also echoed by Benjamin, who said that now, more than ever, Sara cannot be stopped, even as her father is detained.
Meanwhile, Benjamin said that the former president is healthy and still able to crack “witty jokes.” He added that he did not observe any change in the former president’s health, as he tried to comfort him, saying that he would be released soon.
Benjamin also revealed that they did not discuss the progress of the former president’s case. However, he updates him on the current political situation in the Philippines and other family matters.
Benjamin said that FPRRD is very grateful for the supporters who continue to stay outside the facility, showing their unwavering support. He said FPRRD is more concerned about supporters going out of their way just to support him.
He added that they expect Sara to visit FPRRD, but whoever among his children is available will definitely visit him. RGP
