Perplexity AI, a top player in the artificial intelligence (AI) scene, is gearing up to launch its native app for Mac users.
This news comes on the heels of the successful ChatGPT app release for macOS earlier this year.
Unlike ChatGPT, which isn’t listed on the Mac App Store, Perplexity’s upcoming app will be available for download straight from the store.
Perplexity: An AI-based conversational and search tool
Perplexity, which kicked off in 2022, is an AI-driven chat and search tool that uses large language models (LLMs) just like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
It’s known for giving spot-on answers and summarizing web content really well. Plus, users can pick the sources from which Perplexity pulls its info.
Perplexity’s Mac app: Features and availability
The new Perplexity app for Mac is officially on the way!
You can check out its landing page on the Mac App Store, where you can pre-save the app and get notifications for its release on October 15.
The native Mac app will come packed with features like Pro Search with voice or text input, Thread Follow-Up for ongoing chats, source tracking, and history search, among others.
Perplexity Pro: A premium subscription for enhanced features
The Perplexity app for macOS has a free basic version, but if you’re looking for more, there’s a premium subscription called Perplexity Pro.
For ₹1,950 per month, you get over 300 Pro Search uses daily, free upgrades to the latest AI models, and early access to new features.
Mac users can easily subscribe to this service via iTunes. The app takes up 46.8MB of storage and works with macOS 13 or later.
