P20 rice, big relief to elderly, PWDs

Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in far-flung areas of Aurora province described the “Benteng Bigas Meron Na” program of the government as a big relief.

The national government implemented the program to make rice available at P20 per kilo to vulnerable sectors including senior citizens, PWDs, solo parents, persons with disabilities, and others.

Many senior citizens in Aurora, like 62-year-old Rosario Arenas from Barangay Dibaraybay in Dinalungan town, said she hopes that the initiative will continue to help more households.

“There’s no unpleasant smell; in fact, it’s fragrant and of good quality. It’s just like the commercial rice we usually buy,” she said.

About 1,050 kilograms of rice have been sold to qualified beneficiaries at the Kadiwa Store in Dinalungan at the Public Market in Poblacion Zone II.
