Over 2,600 Security Personnel to be Deployed for Duaw Davao

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) announced that it will deploy around 2,600 personnel to ensure public safety and order during the second edition of the Duaw Davao Festival, which will run from June 5 to 29, 2025.

DCPO spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps Press Conference on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, that the security plan for the month-long celebration is already in place.

She said the police force is finalizing the exact number of personnel to be assigned to various activity venues across the city. “Preparations are well underway, and we’re coordinating closely with our counterparts to make sure that all event areas are adequately secured,” Tuazon said in a mixed language.

She also noted that a final coordination meeting between the DCPO and the Davao City Tourism Office (DCTO) is set to be held in the coming days to finalize deployment and event details.

The festival is set to kick off on the evening of June 5 at Rizal Park, marking the beginning of a vibrant month filled with cultural events, community activities, and tourism initiatives. With heightened security measures in place, the DCPO assures residents and visitors that their safety remains a top priority.

Tuazon added that Davao City remains generally peaceful, and the local police force is committed to maintaining this status throughout the duration of the festival.

“Our peace and order situation is stable, and we intend to keep it that way. Duaw Davao will be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone,” she said.

Meanwhile, the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) unveiled new additions to this year’s festival lineup, including the highly anticipated “Definitely Davao: Tsokolate ug Kape Crawl” and the “Definitely Davao City Tour,” both launching on June 5.

These events are designed to broaden the festival’s appeal and provide deeper cultural immersion for both locals and tourists. The Tsokolate ug Kape Crawl, which also celebrates National Cacao Month, will feature 15 local coffee shops and 10 chocolate establishments, showcasing Davao’s rich flavors and thriving artisan scene.

Another crowd favorite returning this year is the “Reyna ng Davao” pageant, a colorful celebration of the city’s empowered LGBTQ+ community.

Currently in its screening phase, the pageant continues to be one of the highlights of the festival, representing the strength, diversity, and inclusiveness of Davao’s people.

City officials, including the DCPO and CTOO, assured the public that all events will be carried out with strict security protocols and in line with the city’s commitment to peace, safety, and cultural pride. DEF
