Oppo F27 5G Review: Best balanced phone under ₹25,000? Check price in India, specs, pros & cons

The Oppo F series has carved out a niche for itself in the offline market, resonating well with users who prefer a hands-on buying experience. Today, we’re taking a closer look at a new addition to this lineup, the Oppo F27 5G.

Let’s dive into the details to see how it measures up to its bigger sibling and whether it stands out in the crowded mid-range smartphone segment.

Oppo F27 5G Design

The phone’s design gives a sense of premium quality, especially noticeable from the rear. It features a matte finish, cleverly chosen to prevent fingerprints, and produces a subtle glittery effect when caught in the light. Notably, the device incorporates a polycarbonate back and frame, enhancing its durability while maintaining a lightweight profile at just 7.76mm thick.

One practical design element is the camera bump, ensuring the phone rests stable and wobble-free on any flat surface. However, the design isn’t without its drawbacks; the edges can feel somewhat sharp, though this is fixed by a case included in the box, offering a smoother handling experience.

The tactile buttons are a highlight, providing satisfying feedback and enhances the user experience. In terms of audio, the phone boasts stereo speakers that deliver impressively loud output, with an ‘Ultra volume mode’ that can ramp up the sound to 300%.

Colour options include Emerald Green and Amber Orange. Additionally, the device holds an IP64 rating for water and dust resistance, and it has excelled in the SGS Performance MultiScene Protection Testing, earning it a commendable five-star rating.

Oppo F27 5G Display

The Oppo F27 5G sports a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate. While the design approaches a bezel-less aesthetic, it does feature a modest chin at the bottom. This display excels in colour reproduction and viewing angles, enhancing the user’s multimedia experience.

Despite its impressive specifications, the device has its limitations. It supports video resolutions up to 2K on platforms like YouTube, but lacks HDR video playback capabilities. Nevertheless, with a peak brightness of 2100 nits, visibility remains clear even under the intense sunlight of a bright Sunday.

An added convenience is the display’s Splash Touch Function, which ensures responsiveness even when your fingers are wet, a useful perk for the active user.

Oppo F27 5G Performance & Software

The Oppo F27 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset, a decent performer for everyday tasks, but it doesn’t stand out in its category. For those interested in intensive gaming or running heavy applications, there might be stronger options available at similar price points.

The device is equipped with ColorOS 14, based on Android 14, enhancing user experience with its fluidity and customization options. It boasts 8GB of standard RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and efficient application performance.

Despite these strengths, the phone’s software experience is somewhat compromised by unnecessary bloatware. The pre-installed games, while removable, may initially frustrate users. On a positive note, Oppo has been integrating useful AI features into ColorOS.

A standout feature is the AI Eraser tool within the Photos app, which adeptly removes unwanted objects from photos, making them disappear as if they were never there.

Oppo F27 5G Battery

Battery life is a critical factor for any smartphone, and the Oppo F27 5G does not disappoint. It features a 5,000mAh battery, unchanged from its bigger sibling, which provides solid endurance.

Users can expect around 7 hours of screen time with moderate use, making it a reliable companion for daily activities. Additionally, the phone supports 45W SuperVOOC fast charging, enabling a full charge in just about 75 minutes.

Oppo F27 5G Camera

The camera system on this smartphone is a bit of a mixed bag. The main 50MP sensor takes decent photos in good lighting, capturing details but the colours are saturated and it warms the human subject and also the photos are soft. Plus you can capture images at 2x as well.

Videos can be recorded at 1080p at 60fps on the rear camera. The footage is okay but it is very shaky.

There’s a second 2MP depth sensor on the back of this smartphone as well. Whether it adds something meaningful to portrait photography is anyone’s guess. Anyway, the Portrait Mode on this phone works well, you get a natural-looking bokeh effect but sometimes it struggles with edge detection.

The 32MP front camera manages to capture a good level of detail for selfies although it brightens up the human subject. The good thing is you can capture selfies at 0.8x both in normal and portrait mode.

Oppo F27 5G Verdict

The Oppo model, with an 8GB/128GB configuration, is priced at ₹22,999. This smartphone aims to offer a well-rounded experience rather than excelling in any one area.

It isn’t tailored for high-performance tasks; however, it compensates with a robust display, impressive battery longevity, and competent camera capabilities. For Oppo enthusiasts looking for a reliable handset within the ₹25,000 range, this could be a worthwhile option.
