Ogie Diaz, actor and veteran talent manager, recently opened up about the untimely passing of T.G.I.S. star Red Sternberg, who died at the age of 50 this year, saddening the showbiz industry.

In his latest Showbiz Update vlog on YouTube, the veteran actor expressed his shock over the saddening news, especially since he had just been in touch with Red only weeks before his death.

“Na-shock pa nga ako kasi nung May 14 ay ka-PM ko pa, o ka-message itong si Red,” Ogie shared.

He went on to reveal the content of their recent exchange, explaining that Red had reached out to discuss a potential professional comeback, “May gusto kasi siya itanong, na kung willing ba ako na i-manage siya. Oo, eh sabi ko naman, ‘Sige. Kamusta ka na ba? Ano na ba yung lagay ng katawan mo? Okay ka na ba? Physically fit ba?’ Tas magpapaliit pa raw siya, magpapapayat. [Sabi ko], ‘Sige, ang importante lang eh balik alindog ka.’ Willing naman tayo to manage Red Sternberg.”

According to him, Red was also preparing to return to the Philippines for a new project: “Sinabi nga niya na may project siyang tinanggap kaya luluwas siya dapat dito ng October, supposedly.”

When co-host Mama Loi inquired about the cause of death of the former T.G.I.S. star, Ogie responded honestly, “Wala naman sinabi doon pero ang nakarating sa akin ay heart attack.”

The loss of Red left many fans mourning the actor who was once a familiar face on Philippine teen television, and Ogie’s recollection served as a reminder of how quickly life can change.
