‘Nothing but pure harassment’: Bea Alonzo’s legal team refutes labor case filed by former driver

Bea Alonzo’s legal team has issued a statement regarding the labor case filed by her former driver, Efren Torres delos Reyes, against her.

Veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin first publicized the labor case on her program, Cristy Ferminute Radyo 5 92.3 TRUE FM, on June 27.

The controversial radio host detailed the driver’s formal complaint which involved his night shift differential pay, overtime pay, holiday pay, 13th month pay as well as alleged illegal dismissal, maltreatment, harassment and lack of separation pay.

However, Bea’s legal team refuted the case within three days after her legal counsel, Atty. Garcia’s statement to ABS-CBN noted that, “the timing of Mr. Delos Reyes’ filing of the labor case is highly suspect.”

Garcia elaborated, “Since he was made a witness for one of the respondents in the criminal cases we filed, and given his admitted personal relationship, the intent and timing of his filing are too obvious to ignore.”

He also clarified that Delos Reyes only worked for Alonzo’s family for three months and was never her personal driver.

“For the record, Mr. Delos Reyes only served as a service driver for the family for a short period of three months. He was not assigned as Bea’s personal driver for her professional engagements. Thus, his claims seem farfetched, unreasonable, if not unrealistic,” Garcia asserted, as quoted by the news outlet.

Garcia further concluded the statement by labeling the case as “nothing but pure harassment.”

It can be recalled that in May, Bea’s legal counsel, and her ex-fiancé, Dominic Roque, filed a cyber libel complaint against Cristy, Ogie, and their co-hosts.
