No village chiefs were killed after elections
The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) has denied reports that several barangay leaders in the province were killed following the recent elections.
Colonel Jay C. Dimaandal, Pampanga Police Provincial Office Director, clarified that there have been no recorded incidents of violence.
“Isa po itong malaking fake news. Wala po tayong naitatalang karahasan hanggang sa mga oras na ito dito sa probinsya ng Pampanga,” said Dimaandal during the episode of “Pulis Kasanmetung Mu” aired on Wednesday.
The top police official said he received a call from a local journalist inquiring about unverified information that barangay captains in the City of San Fernando and Candaba were killed after the elections.
Dimaandal said reports from police stations in the City of San Fernando and Candaba stated that peace and order have been maintained in their respective areas.
The provincial police director appealed to the public to stop spreading false information which may cause fear and panic among residents.
“Ang papakalat po ng fake news ay may karampatang parusa. Katatapos lang po ng eleksyon at ang pagpapanatili ng kaayusan ay napakahalaga. Ang pagpapakalat ng fake news ay maaaring makapagpalala ng tensyon at hindi pagkakaintindihan sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.
