Nintendo Switch gamers warned they've 24 hours to grab new freebie

One for the Mario fans

We may not be able to decorate our Nintendo Switch home screens the same way we could with the Nintendo 3DS but we can still add a touch of personalisation and these freebies allow just that.

With the Nintendo Switch entering the end of its lifespan to make way for the highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, we should see off the former with a bang.

Check out the trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder below!

Giving us incredible titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons will make the latest Nintendo handheld go down in history.

Even if its lack of customisation options will not.

Unlike previous iterations of the handheld such as the Nintendo 3DS allowing players to add background themes, the Nintendo Switch is quite limiting.

However, there are still ways of personalising your online profile, such as these free avatars that are available now.

Available for the next 24 hours only, these avatars celebrate all things Mario.

From Mario himself to Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach and more, these icons take some familiar faces from entries such as Super Mario Bros Wonder, Mario Kart and Super Mario Odyssey and can be used to deck out your Switch account.

There are around 50 to choose from and all come in at 10 Platinum coins.

However, this is still free and Platinum coins are one of two free currencies for the Nintendo Switch so there is no doubt you have racked them up in the past.

If the Kirby franchise is more your thing, then worry not as you can also choose some Kirby-related avatars via the ‘Missions & Rewards’ tab.

This can be accessed through the Nintendo Switch home screen after heading to the ‘Nintendo Switch Online’ page.

However, Mario fans will have to get a move on as they have just a few hours left until these icons are gone.
