Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Reveals Number of Minigames and Tech Demos

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour will feature 20 different minigames when it launches alongside the new console, although some of those minigames may be variations around a similar theme. There will also be 14 different tech demos featured in Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, which should help players become more familiar with the new hardware.

After years of rumors about Nintendo’s follow-up to the Switch, the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for June 5. There will be at least 25 Switch 2 games available at launch, with two brand-new first-party titles among them. While Mario Kart World is certainly the first-party title with the biggest hype built around it, the company has also developed Welcome Tour as an entertaining way to teach players about the new features of the Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour demos some of its mini-games, giving players an idea of what to expect from the experience.

In preparation for the console’s launch on June 5, the Nintendo Today app has released a Japanese-language overview trailer that shows off some of the in-game action that players should expect to see in Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. The main highlights of the game are its 20 minigames and 14 tech demos, but Welcome Tour will present them in a unique way, as players control tiny avatars that navigate the surface and physical inner workings of an enormous Switch 2 and its peripherals, riding escalators and walking across scaffolding as they explore the city-like structure. Not everything will be available as soon as players dive into the game, but they can use medals collected playing minigames to unlock even more content, in addition to collecting stamps at kiosk locations to open up new areas. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour‘s file size is only 2GB, so the content shouldn’t be too heavy, but players will also be able to take quizzes to test the knowledge they’ve gained about the Switch 2 and seek out 170 different secrets.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Features 20 Minigames

Only a few minigames have been shown off ahead of the game’s release. A few newly revealed ones teach players to use the Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse features, with one having them collect falling stars and dodge an ever-increasing series of spiked balls that tumble down from the top of the screen, and another using mouse controls to have players aim and shoot at balloons in a 3D environment. Other minigames that the trailer teases involve using a microscope, driving a car along an obstacle-filled track, and manipulating a yellow face emoji’s features in a manner that looks similar to the Super Mario 64 title screen.

While Nintendo is still promoting its demo feature-filled game, there is controversy surrounding Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. Although many were expecting it to be offered for free, players will need to pay $9.99 to access it, so anyone wishing to check out its features should expect that cost.
