More Power joins Iloilo City’s World Environment Day

MORE Electric and Power Corporation joined the Iloilo City Government’s city-wide simultaneous tree planting activity in celebration of World Environment Day at the Iloilo Sunset Boulevard on June 5, 2025.

The activity was conducted in partnership with Project Transform of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Engr. Neil Ravena of the Iloilo City Government thanked More Power for its continued participation, saying, “It was a big help for us at Iloilo City Government. More Power has always been our partner in all the activities and projects of the Iloilo City Government. These contributions are in line with the one we are celebrating today, which is World Environment Day. This initiative of planting trees together with our stakeholders is a big help because we are already experiencing the effects of climate change and the increase in heat index. This is also one of the things that Mayor Jerry Treñas emphasized.”

Ravena expressed gratitude for the effort of More Power in answering their call for an event and expressed excitement for future collaborations with them for future projects.

Nearly 500 native tree seedlings were planted by committed More Power employees who joined other organizations during the greening activity.

This year’s campaign, titled “Iloilo City Transforms: Tackling Climate Extremes, Disaster Risks, and Plastic Pollution Through Urban Greening,” aimed to address climate change impacts, reduce disaster risks, and promote urban sustainability.

For the past five years, More Power has actively contributed to environmental initiatives in Iloilo City. These include mangrove and tree planting, coastal clean-ups, and the donation of dita seedlings to the City Government.

The company’s long-term sustainability commitment reflects its support to the Ilonggo community in building a greener and more resilient future. (Leo Solinap)
