Mercedes Cabral considers body piercing as self-expression

MERCEDES CABRAL ON BODY PIERCING

Bakit siya mahilig magpa-piercing?

“Wala lang… like this is me, siguro as an artist. I am a visual artist din. And visual artists take by heart,” tugon ni Mercedes.

“Kasi, yun ang gusto ko talaga since I was a kid. So maybe it’s something like part of my identity.

“Like, I did it for myself. Kasi I find it like… alam mo yun, it’s something different. And I find it beautiful.”

Three years ago nagpa-pierce siya sa tenga. Masakit ba iyon?

“Emotional? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Probably. Ha! Ha! Ha!” paghalakhak ng Kapamilya actress.

“Hindi. Pero parang naging ugali ko rin yun na tine-test ko yung sarili ko na alam mo yun, as long as kaya ko pa, or hindi pa ako nagre-reach ng limit. OK lang ba?

“But the physical pain, para sa akin, it felt like just a dull pressure, e. Kaya sabi ng piercer ko, ‘Maybe your pain tolerance is high.’”

Iyong nose ring, hindi pa nakunan sa movie or TV show.

Pagturo niya sa nose ring, “This one, I remove this every time I shoot talaga. Kasi nga it’s very noticeable and siyempre, pag nasa screen ka pa, pag tiningnan mo, baka yung attention mo, mapunta na lang dito.”

“Wala. It’s my own decision.”

MERCEDES CABRAL VS CHERRY PIE PICACHE IN FATHERLAND

“Of course it was different because it was film. It’s not TV. So, yung proseso is very different,” lahad ni Mercedes.

“And yung characters are reversed na.

Pagpapatuloy ni Mercedes, “It’s a very interesting experience for me. At the same time, sobrang nae-enjoy ko siya.

“Kasi, naramdaman ko talaga na it was collaborative, and siyempre, first time working with Direk Joel Lamangan as a director.

“I’m very grateful and happy na kinonsider niya ako for this role. And working with Miss Pie sa film, ano, e… I feel grateful and I really enjoyed it.

Kasi may pressure din in a way na kailangan mong galingan talaga but at the same time, it was smooth.

“Kasi magkakilala kayo and I was comfortable. So masarap, ang sarap niya na experience, working with Miss Cherry Pie, and working with Direk Joel Lamangan as a director.”

FPJ’S BATANG QUIAPO STILL A TOP-RATER

“And malaking bagay siyempre yung mga co-actors mo. Kasi they’re giving you… alam mo yun, yung tamang emosyon for you to just react, e.

It makes your job easy talaga.

“All you have to do is react based on who you are, as your character.”

After shooting Fatherland, na-inspire ba siyang gumawa pa ng more movies bilang breather sa taping sa teleserye?

Tumango si Mercedes, “Of course.

“So ako, siyempre with TV din, it’s a different… I think, like feel and process. It’s different and nae-enjoy ko rin yung TV.

“Magkaiba talaga, TV and film. But I love doing films, and yes, nai-inspire akong gumawa.

“And sana, sana hindi pa ito ang huli na makakatrabaho ko si Direk Joel Lamangan as a director. Kasi, nae-enjoy ko siya as a director.”
