Magnolia Springs is set to host its inaugural “Meet ‘Em in the Arboretum” event, a charming fall fundraiser aimed at breathing new life into the Magnolia Springs Arboretum.
The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4-6 p.m., offering attendees an afternoon of wine, appetizers and live music from local artist Leonard Houston, known as Fairhope’s “Music Man.”
The arboretum, a treasured sanctuary for the community, has long been admired for its botanical diversity and tranquil atmosphere. However, the arboretum has faced serious damage over the years, particularly from Hurricane Sally. Efforts to restore this beloved space have gained momentum, and the fundraiser will directly support ongoing revitalization efforts led by the Magnolia Springs Garden Club in partnership with the Town of Magnolia Springs.
“The community’s support has been amazing, and we’re excited to share this event with everyone,” said Kathryn McFadden of the Magnolia Springs Garden Club.
The garden club has been spearheading the restoration project, which includes a comprehensive landscape plan by Chad Watkins of WAS Design in Foley. While the final implementation is still underway, attendees will get a first look at the design during the event.
The evening will also feature a wine and cheese mixer, creating a relaxing atmosphere for guests to enjoy while learning about the future of the arboretum. Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased at several local businesses, including Magnolia Springs Pharmacy, Jesse’s Restaurant, Page and Palette, Gulf Shores Rentals and Magnolia Springs Town Hall.
The fundraiser is a vital step toward ensuring the arboretum’s restoration. Although the Town of Magnolia Springs has contributed to the effort, the majority of funding relies on the garden club, making this event crucial for the project’s success.
