Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01 is a set of rules issued by the Department of Transportation and other transportation agencies in the Philippines. It was made to improve road safety and discipline among drivers by setting higher fines and penalties for traffic violations.
Under this order, different violations like driving without a license, reckless driving, or using an unregistered vehicle come with clear and stricter punishments. For example, if someone drives without a valid license, they will be fined P3,000 and will not be allowed to get a license for one year after paying the fine. For reckless driving, the fine is P2,000 for the first time, P3,000 for the second time, and P10,000 for the third offense. The driver’s license may also be suspended or taken away completely. If a person drives under the influence of alcohol or illegal dr*gs, they will pay P10,000 and lose their license, with the chance that it may be permanently revoked if found guilty.
The order also says that if the driver does not contest the violation within five days, it will be considered admitted. If they do not pay the fine within 15 days, their license will be automatically suspended for 30 days, and they still have to pay the penalty.
This order was made to encourage proper driving behavior and help keep roads safer for everyone.
