Karen Davila, Mike Navallo, Dennis Datu, Jervis Manahan, and Jacque Manabat have all been honored for their outstanding work in the field of media and reporting.
Karen Davila, known for her work on “TV Patrol” and “ANC Headstart,” has been appointed as the National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women in the Philippines. This role aims to strengthen critical issues, highlight the role of women in the country’s development, promote gender equality, and empower women.
“It is an honor to be the first National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women in the Philippines. I will collaborate with others to support UN Women in promoting positive change in the mindset, behavior, and hopefully, the day-to-day lives of women,” Karen said.
Meanwhile, Mike Navallo received the esteemed Jaime V. Ongpin (JVO) Award of Distinction from the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), while Dennis Datu was named TV Reporter of the Year by the Manila Overseas Press Club at the first-ever MOPC Bell of Freedom and Excellence Award.
In addition to these achievements, Jervis Manahan won the Best Online Story at the 16th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards for his special report titled “The Onion Story,” which delved into the issues faced by onion farmers in the country.
Jacque Manabat, on the other hand, attended the World Creator Festival in South Korea as the only Filipino journalist invited by the organizers. The event celebrates individuals who shape how netizens consume media and information.
