A report by Rappler quoting an initial result of police investigation said the victims were onboard their vehicle when the ambush took place.

According to the report, they were passing through Barangay Santo Rosario in Mexico, Pampanga, when two unidentified assailants, whom authorities said were both male, suddenly shot them.

Their son who was with them at the time of the incident survived the ambush.

The gunmen reportedly fled after doing the dastardly act, while the victims were rushed to the hospital where both Lerma and her husband were declared dead on arrival after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Police authorities say they’re looking at the killing as possibly business-related.

It can be recalled that on October 2, or two days before they were ambushed, Lerms posted on Facebook that those who know how to pay their debts have a greater chance of becoming successful as compared to those who don’t know how to pay their obligations.

In another viral news story, a principal was arrested in a follow-up operation, after he allegedly abused four of the students at school. Based on the report of Unang Balita of GMA News, the principal allegedly had several students come to school to help him with the printing. One student narrated the alleged abuse that happened on that day, and three more students also came forward with their own narratives. The principal is already under the custody of authorities and the case has been made known to Sec. Sonny Angara.

In a related news story that also went viral, a teacher from Misamis Oriental was arrested by authorities for allegedly molesting students. The 43-year-old teacher, according to authorities, would let his students go to his house. Thereafter, the obscene acts would be done there. Authorities also said that he would give them between P300 to P500 for each act of molestation.
