Krishnah Marie Gravidez had an impressive showing and performance as the country’s bet at the recently concluded Miss World held in Hyderabad, Telengana, India.
She successfully put the Philippines back in the semi-finals and Top 8 of the annual competition of beauty with a purpose. It means that she breezed through the Top 40 and Top 20.
Krishnah received the continental title Miss World Asia, replete with a sash and a tiara made of pearls. Hyderabad is known for the latter.
Fellow Asian beauty Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World 2025.
“Maybe it’s colorful. Colorful in a sense that there would always be like ups and downs… like darkness and lightness,” said Krishnah of her Miss World journey in a brief chat with The STAR prior to the press conference. “It’s a mix of everything. It’s because I’ve encountered a lot of girls (who come) from different backgrounds, and they taught me a lot, and situations that tested me as well, situations that made me proud and made me happy, made me sad, like, it’s a rollercoaster of everything.”
“So, I just really wanna say it’s something very colorful,” reiterated Krishnah, who represented Baguio at the Miss World Philippines 2024.
Her experience in the local and national pageants tells one that it’s also a story of being adaptable, surpassing challenges that come with beauty contests with grace and composure.
Asked what made her resilient during the entire Miss World competition, Krishnah said, “It’s truly knowing what I want and the purpose that I have. I feel like if you know who you are, like you’re self-aware, you know what you can offer and the things that, you know, make you stand out and make you strong, then you can be resilient.”
Like all Pinay delegates who graced various international beauty pageants in the past, they went to the host countries not just to represent themselves but also the country.
“This moment is more than a personal triumph for me, it is (also) for everyone who believed in me. It is for all of us and it is a celebration of our diversity, our culture and the beauty of the continent of Asia,” said she during the media call.
She shared that her Miss World journey was not built on glamour but on grit and recalled that she was once a dreamer who secured and landed jobs to help her family, but what kept her carrying on and moving forward was carrying “the fire to rise, not just for myself but also for others.” That same flame inspired her to initiate the advocacy project Color the World with Kindness, whose goal is to empower children by rebuilding schools and homes.
“We believe every child deserves a space to dream and we envision a day when the words underprivileged and underserved are no longer needed to exist because everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive,” said she, adding that the Miss World Asia title “carries the story of inspiration” that is also to encourage young girls to dream and make an impact in their communities.
“And I hope that this (title) will also serve as an inspiration that embracing our uniqueness is our superpower and our Asian heritage is a profound source of our strength and compassion,” continued she, who is grateful to Miss World as a platform where women like her can share stories and use them to make the world a little lighter and better. She also acknowledged the help from the Miss World Philippines Organization, its head Arnold Vegafria, the Filipino people, her family and team, as well as God.
Krishnah hoped the Miss World Asia title and her entire journey will serve as a reminder that “it doesn’t matter where we come from, it doesn’t matter what our statuses in life are because it doesn’t dictate our destination and the future that’s destined for us.”
Her story is about chasing and pursuing one’s dream that every girl or young woman can look at and consider as a source of inspiration.
Last June 7, Krishnah had a homecoming parade at Mall of Asia, recognizing and celebrating her achievements at Miss World that solidified the reputation of the country in the world of pageantry.
