Julia Montes reveals what makes Coco Martin an ‘ideal partner’

While Julia Montes prefers to keep her relationship with Coco Martin low-key, the actress has opened up on why she sees the Kapamilya primetime king an “ideal partner” in real life.

Julia shared the things that Coco does to make her feel beautiful and loved, and how these gestures speak volumes about the kind of person he is.

“Kinikilig na (ako). Ano ba ‘yan! Nahiya naman ako. Teka lang, pinawisan ako,” she said, laughing when asked how Coco makes her feel beautiful. “Hindi kasi up to now, nagkakahiyaan pa rin kami magtinginan. So whenever he looks at me and says, ‘Ganda mo, bagay sa’yo yung ayos mo,’ ako yung parang kinikilig from the inside.”

Julia revealed that Coco has many ways of expressing his affection.

“He has many ways of making me feel beautiful, but simple things like that — I appreciate it kasi siyempre tinitingnan ka, eh,” she shared. “His love language is service, but he also doesn’t forget (words) of affirmation. So that’s what amazes me about him kasi parang ang dami niyang love language. (He’s also into) gift giving parang he got all the love languages. Hindi naman sa pagiging ano, pero parang ganun.”

According to Julia, he’s just being sensitive and attuned to whatever she needs at the moment. “Depende sa kung ano yung kailangan ko, yun yung inaano (binibigay na love language). Pag nararamdaman niya kailangan ko ng affirmation, ibibigay niya. Ganun siya.”

Despite the intense public interest in their relationship, Julia clarified that they’re not trying to keep things a secret. “Now, I can say we’re not being secretive because ayaw lang namin i-share. It’s more of talagang private lang kami talagang tao,” she explained.

She further said that both she and Coco tend to be shy and reserved. “Even with friends, we’re not super vocal (about our relationship). It’s not that we’re intentionally doing it just because we don’t want to share. Mahiyain po talaga kami.”

She continued, “Tapos with Coco naman, sobrang swerte ko lang talaga na lahat ng ginagawa niya, lahat ng ano… hindi niyo pa nga alam sobra talaga! Sobrang ideal siya as a partner.

“Kung gaano ka-gwapo ang tingin sa kanya ng tao — naku, pag nalaman niyo pa kung paano siya as a partner, times 10 yung gwapo niya talaga. Talagang alaga ka. At hindi lang yun dahil partner ka niya — but because ganun din talaga siya as a person.

According to Julia, she receives TLC from Coco from the moment she wakes up until bedtime. “He will take care of you from the morning you wake up until you sleep. Lahat ng mga kailangan mong isipin, kung kaya ngang wag ka na kumilos, yun talaga. Ganun talaga siya as a person.”

That extends to emotional support as well. “I am super amazed at him kasi syempre ang partner mo na lalaki, mas ano yan, gusto aalagaan mo. Ganito, ganito. Pero sa’kin, super supportive siya in the sense that during times when I get tired and I stay quiet, he’s just there to support me.

The 30-year-old Julia has opened up a little bit more about her relationship with Coco Martin.

“Siya po yung nag-o-offer ng, ‘Gusto mo bang magpahinga? Gusto mo ba ng ano, magpatawag tayo ng massage, ng ganito,’ lahat. Basta, alaga talaga ako. Wala akong masasabi. Ang sarap lang sa pakiramdam kasi super supportive lang talaga siya.”

But beyond being a very supportive partner, Coco is also her closest confidant. “And more than anything, as a partner, I found a best friend in him. Parang we can live na hindi lumalabas. Kaming dalawa lang, usap lang over coffee, over whatever, over food — isa pa yan sa bonding namin — okay na kami.”

She also shared how they’ve supported each other’s career and business moves over the years. “Yes, marami kasi siya yung mas nauna technically. And then pumasok ako sa take out. Of course, we would be sharing notes kung ano yung mga na-experience ko. Ever since naman, talagang naka-ano siya.

“Whenever I’m stressed, he’s the one giving me advice. He’s the ultimate shoulder to cry on, my sounding board, everything.”

Self-care and de-stressing

Julia spoke with The STAR and two other media outlets during the launch of Swiss Proli, a health supplement brand she now represents as both endorser and business partner. She particularly promoted the Swiss Proli Lean Quick Gummies, one of the brand’s flagship products that combines Apple Cider Vinegar with Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin B12 and Pectin to promote digestion, immunity and heart health. Each bottle contains 60 vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO gummies priced at P599, available on Lazada and Shopee.

Besides turning to wellness products, Julia de-stresses and finds joy in the small things: cooking for her family, me-time walks and daily prayers.

“Eat food! Really! And cook food. Preparing food for my family. Every time I see my family eating food together, that’s de-stressing for me,” she replied when asked about her favorite way to relax. “The cooking itself is tiring, but looking at them eating the food and enjoying the food — that’s de-stressing me.”

For solo moments of peace, she turns to long walks and prayer. “If it’s really me-time, it’s walking and prayers — yun na yung relaxing moment ko na where I think about everything that happened during the day,” she said. “Then looking forward and requesting also for the things that I’ve been wishing for…

“Dun nag-sta-start — a grateful heart while walking and all, ‘Thank you Lord. Thank you for everything.’”

Her prayer time is usually done at night when the kitchen chores are finished and everything has settled. “There’s a small chapel and I just pray there. That’s where I express all my gratitude… and I also pray for other people — because of course, it shouldn’t always be just about (us). I feel super blessed… wala akong hinihiling na binibigay, laging sobra-sobra so parang I always make time to pray for others as well.”
