
JTF-Orion gets 45 new junior officers
THE Philippine Army has designated 45 junior officers, boosting the manpower, capability, and morale of frontline units, especially in advancing peace and development efforts under Joint Task Force (JTF)-Orion’s campaign in Sulu and Basilan provinces.
The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division (11ID) officially deployed the newly assigned junior officers, all ranked Second Lieutenants, to its operational units during a send-off ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista that houses the 11ID headquarters in Busbus village, Jolo, Sulu.
The ceremony marked the formal integration of the 45 newly commissioned officers into the Alakdan Division, where they will assume leadership roles as platoon leaders and junior officers.
Second Lieutenant Ellen Miles Baldong, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed their collective sense of purpose and gratitude.
“We will uphold the standards set by our commander, especially the five cardinal rules. We recognize the significance of our responsibilities and are committed to performing with excellence,” Baldong said.
“Though new, we are eager to learn, ready to contribute, and determined to serve our country and people-guided by the values of faith, love, and hope,” she added.
Major General Leonardo Pe a, commander of the 11ID and JTF-Orion, reminded the young officers of their vital role in shaping the future of the Philippine Army.
Pe a emphasized the values of leadership, discipline, and unwavering dedication to God, country, and people.
“This is your moment to lead, learn, and make a lasting impact,” Pe a told the 45 junior officers.
“You are not just joining units-you are becoming part of a proud legacy of valor, sacrifice, and service,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
