Jomari Yllana says road safety primary concern at Motorsport Cup

— Actor Jomari Yllana emphasized that road safety is a primary concern of his in mounting Okada Motorsport Carnivale Jom’s Cup happening on May 31 in Okada Manila.

Jomari believes it is time government and the public institutionalized road safety measures.

“In the wake of a growing number of accidents on our roads lately, stricter measures must be put in place to safeguard pedestrians and motorists alike,” he said.

Yllana addressed road safety issues during a May 5 guesting on Radyo 630 Teleradyo Serbisyo.

Jom’s Cup is a 1/8 mile drag racing challenge to be competed in vintage car, muscle car, and super car categories at the seaside boardwalk of Okada Manila.

Okada Motorsport Carnivale 2025 kicked off on May 4 at the boardwalk and gardens of the sprawling hotel-casino complex in Paranaque City. The inaugural event, the third round of Super Sprint, a series of slalom races, roared with 127 driver-participants as witnessed by more than 700 spectators.

In the evening, a large fleet of vintage cars, 365 in all, some dating back to the 1960s and beyond, took part in a grand car meet called the “Legends of the ’90s.”

An estimated crowd of more than a thousand gathered to witness the once-in-a-lifetime show of beauty, force and power.

“It is going to be very, very safe. We take care of everyone who will join. We conduct briefings before the races. All the races are designed to be safe,” Jomari said.

According to the actor, mounting Motorsport Carnivale is his way of giving back to the sport, which he has embraced since his teenage years.

Motorsport Carnivale 2025 is presented by Yllana Racing with Okada Manila as major sponsor and Makina Watches as official timekeeper.
