Originally released in 2013, the basic yet intriguing smartphone game became an overnight success, generating roughly 100 million downloads and a massive ad revenue. Having said that, Flappy Bird is slated to return in 2024 for all iOS and Android devices, following a decade-long absence.

Who announced Flappy Bird”s return?

The Flappy Bird Foundation, which bought the game’s rights, released a one-minute clip, giving fans a taste of what to expect. “I Am Back,” they said, thanking all of the fans who helped make the reunion possible.

“Just a decade ago, I was the talk of the town and soaring to new heights with my 100 million friends. Sadly, I had to leave the fame and spotlight behind to go home and find out who I really was. Thanks to my super Flappy Bird® fans, I’m refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to soar again. The decade-long mission involved acquiring legal rights and even working with my predecessor to uncage me and re-hatch the official Flappy Bird® game!” the caption read.

The foundation also said that the game will feature new additions, characters, stages, and three new game modes while maintaining the original gameplay.
