Hurricane Milton 8 PM Update

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Milton is expected to become a category four hurricane as it barrels toward the west-central coast of Florida.

The 8 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center has the center of Hurricane Milton moving to the east near 7 mph. The track remains nearly the same. it has strengthened, as pressure has dropped to 981mb with sustained winds of 85 mph. It is forecast to arrive on the west coast of Florida on Wednesday as a major hurricane (cat 3) capable of life-threatening impacts.

All preparations should be completed no later than Tuesday afternoon.

Areas of heavy rain will impact Florida in advance of the storm’s arrival. Hazards include storm surge, dangerous winds, heavy rains, possible tornadoes, and more.

Expect watches and warning to be issued for Florida later tonight or tomorrow.

Evacuations for levels A and B for Manatee County goes into effect on Monday.
