Fall Festival & Bulb Sale: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake-Cook Road, Glencoe. The 2024 festival is anchored by the Fall Bulb Sale in the Regenstein Center. Shop for more than 200 varieties of bulbs. Choose from a wide variety of daffodils, tulips, alliums and other specialty bulbs. The bulbs are shipped directly from Holland, just in time for fall planting. The Fall Bulb Sale will also offer hyacinths, peonies, and amaryllis, as well as “Bulb Boost” bulb fertilizer. The Fall Festival offers sweet treats, music, and fun for kids of all ages. The straw bale maze and the gourd mountain ensure that everyone can find a way to celebrate the season. The presentation, “Gardening for Life,” will introduce some ideas from permaculture to help incorporate native plants for biodiversity, manage stormwater, save energy, and more. The guest speaker, Judy Speer, promotes healthy ecosystems by teaching ecological restoration and permaculture with Small Waters Education, a nonprofit organization based in Northern Illinois.
