Help Stop Corporate Pollution, Help Protect Rodeo Animals, Help Protect Pigeons from Being Shot with Blow Darts, and More! – One Green Planet
Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are seven petitions you should sign this week, including Help Stop Corporate Pollution, Help Protect Rodeo Animals, and Help Protect Pigeons from Being Shot with Blow Darts.
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
1. Help Stop Corporate Pollution
The Supreme Court undid 40 years of precedent with their Chevron rule reversal.
This means that they’re directly attacking the federal government’s ability to protect the environment and rein in corporations’ Pollution.
Please sign this petition to immediately dissent against this horrendous decision!
2. Help Shut Down the Calgary Stampede and Protect Rodeo Animals
Imagine this: someone tells you they’ve got a new idea for a community event, something that can bring people together to enjoy entertainment, food, and overall good times. Sounds awesome, right? But then they tell you there’s a small caveat: the entertainment will involve tormenting, torturing, injuring, and maybe even killing animals. Suddenly, this new idea to boost the local community and economy seems downright evil. There’s no way anyone would let that happen!
Well, it’s already happening…in the form of rodeos. But because these bloody events started over a century ago, people are letting their cruelty hide behind the mask of “tradition.”
This year, at one particularly gruesome rodeo in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, four animals were injured to the point of death.
Please sign this petition to shut down the Calgary Stampede and protect rodeo animals today!
3. Demand Accountability for the Man Who Shot and Killed 80+ Animals
A horrifying event unfolded in Prunedale, California, as a local man unleashed a three-hour shooting spree killing 80 animals, including miniature horses, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, and birds. This devastating incident highlights a severe gap in our gun safety laws that fail to protect all lives – human and animal alike. While it’s very likely the shooter will be charged for his crimes, we must ensure to prevent any future danger he could cause.
Please sign this petition to call for the permanent confiscation of the shooter’s firearms and to demand mandatory mental health counseling.
4. Demand Justice for Paralympic Champion Who Was Forced to Crawl Off a Train
The Summer 2024 Paralympics just wrapped up, and the display of strength, inclusivity, and the power of accessibility was a beautiful thing to behold.
But the world still has a long way to go in the journey for true equity, respect, and accessibility for those with disabilities. This was proven true in the shocking treatment of 11-time Paralympic gold medallist Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson on a recent train journey into London. Grey Thompson uses a wheelchair, and when she was abandoned without assistance at her destination of King’s Cross Station, she was forced to crawl off of the train.
Please sign this petition to hold UK transportation authorities accountable for providing step-free trains for all!
5. Tell the Bronx Zoo to Provide Proof of Happy’s Health and Relocate Her to a Sanctuary
Happy the Elephant is a majestic Asian elephant who has lived in captivity almost her entire life. While she has been forced to live alone for the last 13 years in the Bronx Zoo, she has reportedly not been seen in public since July 2024, raising serious concerns about her health and well-being. Happy deserves to live in an environment that fulfills her social, physical, and psychological needs.
We are calling on the Bronx Zoo to provide transparent evidence of Happy’s health and to ultimately relocate her to a sanctuary where she can live out the rest of her days in a more natural and social environment.
Please sign this petition to urge the Bronx Zoo to provide proof of Happy’s health status and commit to relocating Happy to a sanctuary!
6. Help Protect Pigeons from Being Shot with Blow Darts in Florida
Recent disturbing incidents under the Three-Mile Bridge in Gulf Breeze, FL, have come to light, where pigeons are being mercilessly shot with blow darts, leaving them to suffer and die painful deaths. This cruel act not only threatens local wildlife but poses a broader danger to community safety, indicating a profound disrespect for life.
Join us in standing up against animal cruelty and helping to ensure that this community remains a haven for all species.
