‘Habagat’ to bring rains over most of PH
MANILA – Most areas in the country will experience rains due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday.
This will bring occasional rains over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
Likewise, “habagat” will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Cabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Central Luzon and Mimaropa, and the Visayas.
Moderate to heavy rains in these areas could result in floods or landslides, the weather bureau said.
Isolated rain showers will prevail over the rest of the country due to “habagat” and localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are forecast in the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, as of 2 a.m., the low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression and was located 600 kilometers west southwest of Bacnotan, La Union, or 535 km. west of Iba, Zambales as of 3 a.m.
“We do not discount the possibility that it could enter PAR, but in that case, it won’t affect any part of the country,” forecaster Chenel Dominguez said.
No other weather disturbance is being monitored, according to PAGASA. (PNA)
