MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — Registration is now open for the Fall Master Gardener Volunteer Training, a hands-on program designed to expand your gardening skills while making a difference in your community. This in-person training, hosted at the Waterville Public Library, is a partnership between Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Madison and CCE Oneida. The program is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their gardening knowledge and volunteer in Madison County.

The training kicks off in fall and runs through spring of 2025, with participants meeting bi-weekly on Saturdays starting October 5 at the Waterville Public Library. The program covers a wide range of topics, from basic gardening to advanced techniques, equipping volunteers with the knowledge they need to help their neighbors.

Connie Hasko, a dedicated Master Gardener Volunteer, shared her experience: “At first, I thought the Master Gardener program was all about learning the basics. But I soon realized it has a much bigger impact and supports important work at CCE. My favorite part is the Master Gardener Helpline—each question is a chance to learn something new and help others do the same.”

Connie’s story reflects the heart of the Master Gardener program. It’s not just about gaining knowledge; it’s about using that knowledge to build a stronger, more connected community. Whether you’re helping with the Seed to Supper program, setting up a Teaching Garden, or answering questions on the Helpline, you’ll be making a real difference in Madison County.

The fall training is open to residents of Madison County and neighboring areas. After completing the training, volunteers will be ready to take on roles like teaching classes, writing articles, and offering gardening advice—all while helping their community thrive.
