Galaxy S25 Ultra: Everything we know so far about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone | Technology News

Over the last few years, one Android smartphone has stood tall against all odds: Samsung’s S-tier Ultra smartphone. This time, the South Korean giant Samsung is all set to unveil the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, and all eyes are on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Considering the success of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it could end up being the most sought-after smartphone of 2025.

While Samsung has yet to unveil the devices, the rumour mill has been busy churning out details about the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. Here’s everything we know so far:

Same industrial design with minor tweaks that make a difference

According to leaked renders by Android Headlines, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will maintain a design similar to its predecessor. Although the design ethos remains largely the same, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to feature subtle design changes that matter. These include a boxier design, making it look even more industrial while retaining the iconic camera arrays with four cameras and an LED flash unit. Compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which already had a boxier design than the S23 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will also sport a flat frame reminiscent of the Galaxy S24 or Galaxy S24+.

At the front, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to include a massive 6.9-inch flat screen with WQHD+ (3120 x 1440) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While the display specifications are similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s screen is expected to be more colour-accurate and brighter.

The most unique feature of Samsung’s flagship smartphones over the past decade has been the S-Pen, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue this tradition. However, according to a post by Ishan Agarwal on X, the S-Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra will lack Bluetooth connectivity, removing features like gesture and remote control.

The quad-camera setup on the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with one major change. While the 200 MP primary camera, 10 MP 3x telephoto lens, and 50 MP 5x periscope zoom lens remain unchanged, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature an upgraded 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

This camera setup, coupled with a new image signal processor (ISP), is expected to deliver an improved photography and videography experience.

Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, up to 1 TB storage

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a speed-binned flagship chip from Qualcomm. It will likely be paired with at least 12 GB of RAM, and the device is expected to offer up to 1 TB of storage. However, don’t expect a microSD card slot. Depending on the market, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will support dual nano-SIM slots.

Android 15 with OneUI 7

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will ship with Android 15-based OneUI 7, featuring an improved UI and new Galaxy AI experiences. According to rumours, Samsung might include a complimentary annual subscription to Google One AI Premium, similar to the Pixel 9 Pro series. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to receive seven years of OS and security updates.

Same 5,000 mAh battery, 45W fast charging

Samsung seems to be playing it safe when it comes to battery and fast charging. Like the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to feature a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, along with wireless and reverse wireless charging.

Launch and expected price

Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra, on January 22, with sales likely starting a week later. In terms of pricing, the base variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to cost between Rs 1,20,000 and Rs 1,30,000, with potential bank discounts available.
