Her sentiments, shared during a recent interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” shed light on the complexities faced by artists balancing personal dreams with established industry responsibilities.

Gabbi, who is set to turn 27 this year, acknowledged that her age might be considered ideal for entering the highly competitive beauty pageant scene.

However, she underscored that the decision is not as straightforward as many fans might believe. “I’m turning 27 this year so it would have been the perfect time to join, right? Pero nga kasi, I’ve been saying I’ve been open about this, there are a lot of factors to consider if I could join or not,” Garcia explained to veteran talk show host Boy Abunda.

Among the primary considerations, according to Garcia, are her extensive contractual obligations and existing brand endorsements.

Participating in a major national pageant like Miss Universe Philippines typically requires candidates to put all other professional engagements on hold for a significant period.

“You know, relationships with brands na baka hindi ma-i-push kung sumali ako because I would have to drop everything or pause everything. [In] short, I would be jobless for maybe a year or two if I continue to join. So I don’t think it’s the smartest thing to do right now,” she stated, highlighting the substantial financial and career implications.

The actress is well aware of the public’s encouragement for her to compete, with many believing her beauty and eloquence make her a strong contender.

“Kung ako lang talaga and wala akong iba i-sa-sacrifice, I would have joined. Maybe I could have tried and tried already until I reached the crown, right?” Garcia remarked, indicating her genuine desire to pursue the pageant dream if not for her existing career trajectory.

She added that with 11 years already spent in the entertainment industry, she now faces different priorities and a need to weigh her options carefully.

Despite her current focus on her acting and hosting commitments, including her recent contract renewal with GMA Network, Garcia is not entirely ruling out a future foray into pageantry.

She expressed a philosophical view on the matter, suggesting that some desires, no matter how strong, might not align with current destiny.

“May mga bagay na kahit na gustong-gusto natin para sa sarili natin, sinasabi na ni Lord at sinasabi ng destiny na hindi siya muna para sa ‘yo,” she mused. “So, I’m not closing my doors, definitely. I’m still open. But as of now, I have different things to prioritize.”

Gabbi has been vocal about her childhood dream of becoming a beauty queen since 2020. Over the years, rumors have often circulated about her potential participation in various Miss Universe Philippines editions, including the recently concluded 2024 pageant.

While flattered by the public’s consistent interest and support, she has maintained that the timing has not been right.

Notably, the actress recently served as one of the hosts for the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 coronation night, showcasing her deep connection to the pageant world from a different vantage point.

Her professional versatility, which includes acting, singing, modeling, and hosting, continues to keep her at the forefront of the entertainment industry, necessitating careful consideration of any new ventures that would demand a significant pause from her established career.
