Former Nintendo Employees Have a Warning for Switch 2 Leakers

Former Nintendo employees Kit and Krysta have recently warned leakers that the Japanese company “will find” anyone responsible for leaking the Switch 2 ahead of launch. With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 approaching, more and more reports of the console being found in the wild are appearing, and it’s still unknown how Nintendo will deal with leakers.

Originally announced earlier this year, the Nintendo Switch 2 will release on June 5. The console is already being sold via pre-orders for $450, or $500 if bundled with the upcoming Mario Kart World. The Nintendo Switch 2 will have stronger specs than its predecessor, as well as a larger display, and comes with 256GB of storage space. Also, its new Joy-Con 2 controllers will have mouse controls and be magnetically attached.

Now, former Nintendo employees Kit and Krysta have made a new video discussing the viral Target photo in which Switch 2 consoles appear in an unlocked trolley. The Nintendo Switch 2 has started to arrive at retailers, so multiple reports of people with the console have been spotted. According to Kit and Krysta, however, Nintendo “will find” the leakers, as there are many ways to track them down. The former employees used the release of the original Switch as an example, as one person got the system early, and Nintendo quickly tracked down the model, scanning and identifying the leaked console. It’s currently unknown, however, what legal measures Nintendo will take against people leaking the Switch 2.

Ex-Employees Believe That Nintendo Has the Means to Track Down Leakers

Despite Nintendo’s best efforts, however, it seems that some people already have the Switch 2 in their hands. For example, one gamer made a video showing the inside of the Switch 2’s main box. The gamer did not reveal how they were able to get their hands on the console, however, and the video was quickly taken down. In any case, Nintendo has planned a day-one update to properly ensure that the Nintendo Switch 2 will only work as intended after its official release.

When the Switch 2 is finally released, gamers will have access to 24 games initially, including Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman: World of Assassination, Hogwarts Legacy, and others. The launch will also mark the release of new features for the N64 on Switch Online’s Nintendo Classics collection, which is available for subscribers of the Expansion Pack tier. The update will bring the ability to rewind games on the Nintendo 64 and a new CRT filter, which will only be available for Nintendo’s new console.
