Eternal League Unveils New Roadmap Ahead of Web3 Launch on Epic Games Store
Developer Eternal Squares has published a new roadmap for their roguelike action RPG Eternal League, giving us a glimpse of the team’s blockchain-powered economy plans for this year ahead of the game’s web3 launch on the Epic Games Store.
What’s New in Eternal League’s Roadmap?
The new roadmap for Eternal League reveals that the web3 version of the game is coming to the Epic Games Store at some point in June 2025.
Following the game’s official on-chain launch that will be powered by Immutable, based on their new partnership from earlier this month, the developers will then look to release the Eternal League Squads NFT Collection during the month of July. Details on the utility of assets from this collection are not available at the time of writing.
In August, the team aims to kick off the game’s Challenge Season 1, during which players will have an opportunity to play and earn rewards, which will include the game’s own token, Eternal Shards (EST), that is planned to eventually go live on Immutable zkEVM at an undefined date with a total supply of 1 billion. Based on the tokenomics section from the game’s official website, it does seem that players may end up having to pay entry fees in EST to enter tournaments and Challenge events to compete for leaderboard rewards. Next to seasonal rewards, the token will also be earnable through ranked matches, PvE quests, co-op, and community contributions such as content creation and referrals. Alongside entry fees, players will use the token as a marketplace currency for trading NFTs, but also for other in-game features such as crafting, upgrading and repairing Gear NFTs, and for buying time-limited enhancement boosters and potions. Staking will also be an option, and a necessary one for participating in governance and earning rewards such as tickets, rare NFT unlocks, or bonus drops.
At some point in Q4 2025, it looks like the team will expand their gaming universe with the beta launch of a web3 card game. Last but not least, Challenge Season 2 for the main game will go live in December to give players more ways to play and earn what looks set to be a core ecosystem currency.
More details on these milestones are probably planned to be revealed in the coming weeks. In the meantime, a web2 version of Eternal League is available for purchase on Steam in Early Access.

What Is Eternal League?
Eternal League is a sci-fi roguelike action RPG in which you battle your way through a futuristic battleground while utilizing an in-depth hero customization system to create a character that suits your playstyle. Enjoy fast-paced strategic combat in top-down gameplay as you upgrade your hero with new abilities and cosmetics while experiencing a unique and dynamic session-based progression system where your hero evolves in real time as the game consistently delivers upgrades and challenges your way according to the level of skill you show on display.
Players can recruit fully upgradable companions where each companion has their own distinct personality and skills to use in battle, and you can assemble a strong team composition to form powerful synergies ready to take on the swarms of enemies that await in each challenging run. The game also features an “innovative” glyph system in which you can use mystical runes to randomize your hero’s skills for some unpredictable battles where you may gain highly powerful abilities that could prove key to victory.
Eternal League launched in Early Access on Steam on March 26, 2025, and according to the official store page, the developers might keep the game in this phase for about 6 months. The full version is set to feature more levels, new unique heroes, more abilities, mechanics, and new challenges for expanded gameplay depth.
The existing version currently has 5 heroes, 4 different levels, and 10 companions, and you can buy it for $5.99 or your regional equivalent price. It’s not currently clear whether the web3 version on the Epic Games Store will be free to play or also come with its own price tag.
