Doña Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, matriarch of the powerful and influential Ayala family, has passed away.
The family announced that the wife of Don Jaime Zobel De Ayala died on Monday, September 23, 2024.
She was 88 years old.
Doña Bea is survived by her husband Don Jaime, and their children Jaime Augusto, Fernando, Bea Junior, Patsy, Cristina, Monica, and Sofia, as well as their respective spouses and grandchildren.
The former Beatriz Miranda Barcon was born on February 29, 1936, in Madrid, Spain. She married Don Jaime Zobel De Ayala in June 1958 and together they had seven children.
Doña Bea kept a low profile most of her life, becoming involved in philanthropy and contributing to organizations such as the Catholic Women’s Club. She was also known for her work in arts and culture as well as her involvement in civic organizations.
In lieu of flowers, the family said that donations to her favorite charities would be appreciated.
