Dole-Davao clarifies issues on internship stipend delay
The Department of Labor and Employment-Davao Region (Dole-Davao) said that they are processing the documents of individuals who have not yet received their internship stipends.
This comes after some beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP), deployed under the Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Partylist, raised concerns in a radio interview that their stipends have not been released.
However, Dole-Davao claimed that some documents submitted were incomplete or were not submitted at all, hence the delay.
Dole-Davao said they facilitated the deployment of GIP beneficiaries under the PBA Partylist. Some beneficiaries began their internship in February, others started in March, while some commenced in April. It lasted three to six months. Each beneficiary was entitled to a daily stipend of P510, applicable only on working days.
Dole-Davao said they are processing the corresponding stipends, but have only received parts of the required documents, such as Daily Time Records (DTRs) and accomplishment reports. Some of the documents submitted were incomplete, while others were none at all.
The agency cited Dole Department Order No. 204, Series of 2019, which requires GIP beneficiaries to submit the necessary documents to enable the release of their stipends. The office said they will only be able to process stipends once the documents have been submitted and verified.
“Once processed, stipends for the applicable months will be automatically credited to the respective Landbank accounts of the qualified GIP beneficiaries. All rendered services shall be duly compensated. Concerned GIP beneficiaries are advised to visit the Dole office directly for further inquiries or assistance,” Dole-Davao said in their statement on May 23, 2025.
Dole-Davao also expressed its continued commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability in the implementation of programs. The office said it will coordinate with the concerned parties and ensure that GIP beneficiaries receive their benefits in a “timely and lawful manner.” RGP
