Dog Is So Excited To Go to Day Care, She Takes Unexpected ‘Short Cut’

A dog has made her feelings toward day care abundantly clear after she couldn’t contain her excitement as she arrived, launching herself into the fun.

The moment, captured on CCTV at the Doggy Daycare and Spa in Okemos, Michigan, has been viewed over 2 million times on TikTok, leaving viewers in stitches.

In the video, year-old Husky and Labrador mix Chessie can be seen charging into the day care facility before hurling herself over the counter in a “short cut”—eager to get inside.

“Even though Chessie comes to day care three times a week, she is always this excited to see us and eagerly greets me every morning. Usually, she goes around the desk to say hello but decided to skip that part this time around,” Makenzy Burman, manager of Doggy Daycare and Spa Okemos, told Newsweek.

Chessie’s reaction isn’t unusual; though, in fact, Burman said that most dogs are thrilled to arrive, often racing straight for the door to the play area or running up to team members for attention.

“Though I wasn’t expecting Chessie to jump on the counter, I wasn’t really surprised. She’s very agile and loves to jump over fences and do ‘parkour’ on the playground equipment, so it was a very Chessie thing to do,” Burman said.

The video captured hearts on TikTok where people shared their reactions. “OK but as a dog mom, it’s so comforting to know your dog is so happy at a doggy day care,” said Hannah. While viewer Lauren said: “You know your pup is loved when this happens!”

Other commenters were amazed by the staff member’s calm reaction. CysiotheCatdog said: “Receptionist handled it like this sort of thing happens every day.”

Burman was stunned by the amount of attention the video got online. “I knew our pet parents would love it, but I never expected it to get this much attention! It’s been fun to see all the sweet comments about how they can tell we take good care of the dogs,” she said, adding that the staff had been delighted by the positive response.

“We are all truly huge dog lovers and care for the dogs like they are our own, so it was nice to hear that others could see that as well.”
